Director Charles Jackson Jr. directs with an eye toward entertaining the youngsters and there is nary a slow moment in the show.

With book and lyrics by Keith Glover and direction by Charles Jackson Jr., this production fuses folklore, rhythm, and Southern mysticism into a theatrical experience that’s equal parts myth and music.

Director Jackson and this terrific cast pull us in emotionally, and then make Lee’s “back in the day” story hit us hard: it’s too real, too heart-rending, too now.

In Due Time had the edginess that I would like to see from all fringe festival performances.

Jackson (who gives a very strong performance) and Coats (an appealing actor) filmed very long takes without scripted dialogue but while knowing where the general story is going.

This was a sweet and interesting show that took the couple from deception and heartbreak to a beautiful friendship and healing. The Q and A after the show revealed that the performance was also very unique—the dialogue was completely improvised!
